Himesh Reshammiya

Number 5, Television Serial producer, Music Director, Composer, Singer & Actor, Himesh is the son of Gujarati music director Vipin Reshammiya. He lost his elder brother at the age of 11, and decided to take up music as his career after the incident, to fulfill his father’s wishes. He did his schooling at Hill Grange School in Peddar Road area, Mumbai. Himesh started his career with a production house which aired quite a few TV soaps on Doordarshan Ahmedabad and Zee TV.

According to the Times of India newspaper in 2005 Himesh has been responsible for giving 28 hits in 6 months and BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) did a news piece on the same. From 2007, the total number of hits has now been increased to 36.

At the age of 16 and before Himesh went into music direction, he produced television serials for Zee TV which included serials such as Andaz & Amar Prem.

At the age of 21, Reshammiya married Komal and they have a son, named Swayam.

Himesh’s first big break came through his good friend Salman Khan. Salman gave Himesh the chance to be a music director for the movie Bandhan along with composer Anand Raj Anand. Number 2, Suniel Shetty made his debut  in 1992 with Balwaan  (1992), which was not a major hit. Yet his great acting skills got noticed. For two years success eluded him until action thriller Mohra (1994) came along in 1994. Then followed his success streak with a comical film Gopi Kishan (1994) in which he played a dual role. The movie became a blockbuster hit and Shetty began to surface and went on to deliver blockbuster hits through his stunning performances. His intense acting abilities in patriotic movies like Border (1997), Refugee(2000),Qauamat: City Under Threat (2003) and LOC : Kargil (2003) were critically applauded.

Throughout his career that spanned fifteen long years, he had acted in over eighty movies – most of them being action oriented movies. Shetty also proved his acting abilities by donning various characters from villainous ones to innocent to serious and comical ones. Suniel Shetty made a great villain in ‘Main Hoon Na’ but it couldn’t save a dwindling career. He should retire while we remember him as one of Bollywood’s men of action.

Jackie Shroff

Number 1 Jaikishen was born in the Gujerati-speaking Shroff family on February 1, 1957. His dad’s name is Kakubhai, his brother’s is Hemant, and they live in Bandra, Bombay in a bungalow named ‘Le Pepeyon”.

A vegetarian, Jaikishen made his Bollywood debut in a bit-role as a villain in the 1973 hit ‘Heera Panna’ which starred Dev Anand. He then went on to act in another Dev Anand starer, ‘Swami Dada”.

It was Subhash Ghai, who signed him up for the 1983 hit ‘Hero’ that catapulted this handsome young man to stardom, followed by yet another hit ‘Andar Bahar’ with Anil Kapoor as his co-star. Thus Jaikishen became the new Bollywood legend: Jackie Shroff.

Since then there has been no looking back, as he went on to star in close to 150 movies with a career that spanned from 1973 onwards. Since 2000 or thereabouts he has appeared in a variety of character-roles, villain, comedian, and even as a ghost in ‘Bhoot Unkle’.

Dev Anand

Dev is also known for introducing two of the most beautiful actresses to Bollywood, namely Zeenat Aman in ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’ and Tina Munim in ‘Des Pardes.

Rekha

Number 1 Bhanurekha was born in the Telugu-speaking Ganesan household on October 10, 1954. Her dad was the popular Tamil actor, Gemini, while her mom was a popular Telugu actress, Pushpavalli. She has seven sisters and one brother. One of her sisters is Dr. Kamala Selvaraj, while another one, Radha, lives in San Francisco with a son named Naveed, who is being readied to act in Bollywood movies.

No stranger to the tinsel screen, Bhanurekha acted in a Telugu movie ‘Rangula Ratnam’ as Baby Bhanurekha along with her mom during 1966, which was subsequently re-made and released in Hindi during 1976 as Rangila Ratan (1976).
